The Washington Post tells the story of a courageous Tahirih Justice Center client who survived human trafficking.

After escaping her trafficker, she worked with Tahirih to secure a T visa, a special protection for survivors of human trafficking, and with local non-profit Homestretch to secure housing. Today, she is building a new life with her daughter and speaking out about what she has experienced.

‘I can’t believe I went through it,’ she said, meaning both the lows and the highs of the past five years. ‘I didn’t believe I could do it. I can’t believe now I’m driving or have a full-time job. But it’s still scary. Psychologically, I’m traumatized. It’s always there.’
