The Tahirih Justice Center received a letter from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement assuring that the DHS-VINE database will no longer disclose the federally-protected personal information of victims of crime. Mother Jones covered this development and highlighted Tahirih’s work to shed light on this breach of confidentiality, which put survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking at risk.

“The issue was first spotted by the Tahirih Justice Center, a group that works with women and girls fleeing gender-based violence, after a client’s information was found in the database,” said Mother Jones.
