Staff Demographics

Most of our leadership, staff, and Board of Directors identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) and the majority identify as women or non-binary. Nearly half identify as survivors of or witnesses to gender-based violence.

A 2019 survey of nonprofit staff from across the United States provided a benchmark for assessing our staff diversity. Compared to other nonprofits, Tahirih staff includes a larger proportion of individuals who identify as Asian, multi-racial, or Hispanic, Latin American, or Spanish, as well as a higher percentage of staff who are immigrants or the children of immigrants.

2023 Financials

In 2023, Tahirih had an operating budget of $11.2 million. Thanks to the generosity of our Pro Bono Network of attorneys, medical professionals, and other experts, the value of in-kind donated services was $25.9 million, bringing our total budget to $37.1M.
