Tahirih has released a groundbreaking report that provides state lawmakers with the information they need to pass laws that more effectively protect children from the harms of child marriage.

ICE shared with Tahirih in a July 14 letter that it has removed from its publicly searchable database all federally protected information on immigrant victims of crime.

Tahirih issued this statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to hear legal arguments on the constitutionality of the travel ban Executive Order and to allow the Order to go into limited effect.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law a bill to reform minimum marriage age laws to raise the age “floor” to 17 and put in judicial safeguards against forced marriage. Tahirih was honored to attend the bill signing in Albany.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed into law a bill to limit marriage to legal adults. Tahirih is proud to have helped draft and advance this bill through the legislative process.

Tahirih and partner organizations found that DHS’ new VINE database includes confidential information on survivors of crime and have asked that DHS remove their information immediately.
