27-year-old Mohanad Elshieky was traveling back to his home in Oregon when he was ordered off a Greyhound bus and detained by immigrant agents. NBC News spoke with Tahirih Houston Executive Director Anne Chandler about naturalized citizens’ lingering fear of being stopped by immigration authorities.
“I know so many naturalized citizens that are carrying old immigration paperwork and passports in their glove boxes,” said Chandler.
Once people finish their immigration cases, shouldn’t they “have a right to travel and feel free in this country?”
