The News & Observer reported on a new bill that was introduced in the North Carolina legislature to better protect minors from the harms of child marriage. As a supporter of the bill, Casey Swegman, Tahirih Forced Marriage Initiative Manager, is quoted:
“This bill would take North Carolina from being behind the national curve to a leadership position in the movement to end child marriage… The urgency is growing, as many of North Carolina’s neighboring states have already made progress against child marriage.”
