Tahirih is honored to have been awarded a two-year Equal Justice Works Fellowship.
The Fellowship, which will begin in Fall 2007, will allow an attorney to work full-time on the representation of immigrant women seeking U visa relief, which is a special visa available to certain victims of crime.
In addition to direct legal representation, the fellow will work with government agencies to promote the implementation of the U visa, which, since its passage in Congress over five years ago, has still not had implementing regulations issued.
The mission of Equal Justice Works is to create a just society by mobilizing the next generation of lawyers committed to equal justice.
