Righting the Wrong: Our Fight to Free Asylum-Seeking Mothers and Children
Mothers and children fleeing extreme violence in Central America are being imprisoned in the United States with their children, sometimes for months on end, in remote facilities with little access to health and legal services.
We’re fighting to right this wrong with advocates across the country, and our work on the issue in 2015 culminated in the publication of a report in coordination with UNHCR. Scroll through our timeline to see major developments in 2015, and find our report, with voices from detention and three recommendations for the U.S. government, in our Publications Library.
