The Tahirih Justice Center and partner organizations filed an amicus brief to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in the case challenging several California state laws on the grounds that they conflict with federal laws.
This brief supports the California laws by explaining how they enhance survivor safety and public safety. Rather than conflicting with federal law, they are in harmony with the federal laws that provide particular immigration protections for survivors of domestic violence and other crime. The law firm of WilmerHale led the drafting.
