Tahirih’s Senior Counsel for Policy and Strategy spoke with PBS NewsHour about the importance of raising the minimum age of marriage to protect minors from abuse and exploitation.

Tahirih submitted written testimony to the Connecticut General Assembly in support of HB 5442, a bill to eliminate exceptions to age 18 as the minimum legal age to marry.

Nearly 40,000 children under age 18 were married in the state of Texas between 2000-2014. Those are some of the highest child marriage numbers in the nation.
