Tahirih Justice Center will honor two retired congressmen who have been critical advocates for courageous immigrant women and girls fleeing human rights abuses at its 18th Annual Gala

Two leading law firms in Greater DC and Baltimore will be honored for their exceptional commitment to immigrant women and girls fleeing violence.

Zaina Konbaz and Silvia Moore will receive Volunteer Service Awards at Tahirih’s 18th Annual Gala.

In partnership with Tahirih’s Forced Marriage Initiative, Mayer Brown LLP and Caterpillar Inc. completed an extensive pro bono research project in 2014 about conditions for individuals from the United States facing forced marriage overseas.

Tahirih Justice Center will present Pro Bono Attorney of the Year awards to lawyers from Ballard Spahr LLP and Duane Morris LLP at our 18th Annual Gala on April 14 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.

We presented our Change.org petition at a meeting with the White House Council on Women and Girls on March 18, marking a pivotal step in the growing movement to recognize forced marriage as a domestic problem and develop a comprehensive plan to protect individuals from this hidden human rights abuse in the United States.

In addition to playing “Rafael” on “Jane the Virgin,” Baldoni founded Wayfarer Entertainment, a production company focused on changing the world through digital media, television and film.
